Welcome

Heather HansMy name is Heather Hans, and I’m an instructional designer and an artist. I’ve worked in higher education since 2013 in roles centering around instructional design, instructional technology, user experience, and teaching and training. I received a BA from Wake Forest University in fine art and art history, and I specialized in painting, sculpture, and American Art.

After college, I worked in journalism for five years as an editor and writer, and then I went back to school at UNC-Greensboro to get my Masters in Library and Information Studies, through which I learned a wide range of skills from media and web design to academic research, instructional design, and instructional technology.

I love to paint, and I’m a member artist of the Alamance Artisans guild. Please check out some of my work on this site as well as on Etsy!

I collaborated with Heather on a graduate-level course for UNC. From the beginning, Heather was focused–she understood the aim of the course and helped to articulate that in the various stages of course development. Heather is creative and offered input on different elements, from activities to videos. She is also highly organized and detail-oriented (a must for curriculum development). She’s also fun to work with!

I had the pleasure of working with Heather at the Carolina Office of Online Learning (UNC-Chapel Hill). Heather is an incredibly valuable member of the team. She is smart, creative, and extremely committed to her work. If you need a hardworking and expert designer, writer, and/or editor, Heather should be your first choice.
